Backpack Chapter 10; A Scout

As the Autumn day wore on, L.T. showed Backpack around what looked like an abandoned cellar. He showed him the various bunks and hammocks and even the small hammock Backpack would sleep in during his time with the SIOA. L.T introduced him to the other members including, to Backpack's delight, the X-Box, Halo 3, and the controllers.

"This place is awesome, L.T," said Backpack, staring around the large room that was littered with the members of the SIOA.

"It still looks like a dump to me," said a bucket who had somehow crammed a pair of blue sunglasses on his head.

"Oh," said L.T. with a sigh, "this is Bucket,"

"That's my name, don't wear it out," said Bucket.

"Whatever," said L.T., "anyway Backpack, I would be very grateful if you would accept my offer." Suddenly Wally became very quiet and sunk into the shadow of a Hammock.

"What offer?" Asked Backpack, wondering why Wally was acting this way.

"You didn't tell him?!" roared L.T.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," said Wally who had guessed what would happen a minute before and was frantically trying to think of an excuse for forgeting to tell Backpack. "It's hard to remember things like that when you're trying to keep a police officer in a headlock." Unfortunately that's all he was able to think up.

L.T. fumed for a minute. "Okay I'll let you off on this one, Wally," L.T. finally said, "but make sure it doesn't happen again. Anyway, Backpack what Wally was supposed to ask is-would you like to be one of our scouts?"
