I am writing about Addy Walker. Book one starts with Addy living on a plantation. Addy was a slave there. She carried water to the other slaves. Later on she and her mom ran away.
Addy's family is neat. Addy has a mom and a dad. She has an older brother named Sam and a little sister named Esther. Addy loves her family.
Addy and her mom tried to escape. They went through the woods. They crossed through rivers. They got help from other people. Then later they got to freedom in the North.
In book two Addy is at the pier. A nice girl and woman came to help them. Addy's mom gets a job at Miss Ford's dress shop. Addy goes to school. Later, she finally feels the cold wind blow.
Winter was finally here. Addy had just finished her deliveries for Miss Ford. She was so excited for Christmas. Sarah had told her all about it There was going to be a shadow play. When they were watching the shadow play in a dark room, the door opened. Addy tried to see who was there. She went to the door-it was Papa! She was so excited.
Addy's family was looking for Esther, Aunt Lula and Uncle Solomon. They got seperated from them in the other book. Addy was looking for them at a church. Before she could go up the steps she saw them. "Esther, Lula!", she shouted. Then they went home and everyone was happy.
They Addy books are fun to read. I liked them very much. I learned a lot about slavery and the lives of people who were freed from slavery.
